VisionQuest: Marvel's Eight-Episode Series Lands on Disney+ This October
Marvel has set a date. VisionQuest, the eight-episode Disney+ series starring Paul Bettany as Vision, arrives on 14 October this year, according to Variety.
Bettany reprises the role for the first time in live action since WandaVision, the 2021 series that kicked off Marvel's streaming push. Marvel itself has described VisionQuest as the final instalment in a trilogy that began with that show, as noted in the studio's Year in Review 2025 article. The new series follows Vision — the synthezoid, meaning an artificial being built to mimic human life — on a journey of self-discovery, grappling with his humanity and his purpose, per the official trailer description on Marvel's YouTube channel.
The trailer, unveiled at D23 2026, confirms a detail that has intrigued fans since WandaVision ended: Vision appears in both his android form and a human form. It also brings back a familiar adversary. James Spader returns as Ultron, the rogue artificial intelligence last seen in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The supporting cast ties together several threads from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Emily Hampshire plays E.D.I.T.H., the AI glasses interface previously voiced by a different actor in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Orla Brady takes on F.R.I.D.A.Y., Tony Stark's assistant system. James D'Arcy reprises his role as J.A.R.V.I.S., the butler AI he voiced in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Agent Carter. T'nia Miller plays Jocasta, a character with roots in the comics as Ultron's own creation. Ruaridh Mollica rounds out the announced cast as Tommy Maximoff — one of the twins introduced in WandaVision, now grown up, per Variety.
For fans, that cast list does a lot of work. Each of those AI characters — E.D.I.T.H., F.R.I.D.A.Y., J.A.R.V.I.S., Jocasta — carries its own history in the films, and putting them in one series alongside both Vision and Ultron suggests VisionQuest is drawing a thread through the MCU's machine intelligences rather than telling a single hero's story in isolation.
Bettany announced the series to fans in a moment Marvel highlighted as a surprise in its 2025 year-end coverage. The October release slots VisionQuest into Marvel's autumn streaming calendar, eight episodes between the studio's theatrical releases and whatever Disney+ schedules next.
