Diablo 4 is nearing completion for Switch 2, with a release expected on either September 15 or September 18, according to Dealabs writer billbil-kun — a leaker with a long track record of accurate hardware and software reveals VGC.

The port will be priced at US$69.99 / €69.99 / £62.99, matching the standard price for full-priced games on the new console. A physical release is planned, but it will be a code in a box — a printed download code inside retail packaging, rather than a game cartridge or a Game-Key Card, the Switch 2 format that stores game data on a physical card that still requires a download VGC.

Whether the Switch 2 version will include Lord of Hatred, the game's upcoming expansion, or sell it separately has not been confirmed.

Billbil-kun suggested the official announcement could come during Gamescom at the end of August. Xbox — now Blizzard's parent company after the 2023 Microsoft acquisition — has said it will have a booth at the Cologne trade fair to celebrate Xbox's 25th anniversary VGC.

Talk of a Switch 2 port first surfaced in January 2025, when eXputer writer eXtas1s said they were aware of the port being in development. By April 2025, Diablo series head Rod Fergusson was publicly open about the possibility. He said nothing about the Switch 2's hardware was a barrier — the real challenge was making a live-service game, one sold and continuously updated in seasons after launch, work well on a handheld that might not always have a stable internet connection VGC.

Fergusson's concern points to a real tension for the port. Diablo 4 requires an online connection even during solo play, and a handheld console used on train journeys or in waiting rooms is exactly the kind of setting where persistent connectivity is least reliable.

For now, though, the game appears close to crossing the finish line. Billbil-kun's reporting points to a mid-September launch — roughly two years after Diablo 4 first released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in June 2023. Blizzard has not officially confirmed the port, the dates, or the pricing.
