Megan Thee Stallion's Studio Companion for 'Act III' Is a Street Cat Named Miso

Megan Thee Stallion has been recording her upcoming album Act III with an unconventional studio guest: a stray orange cat she has named Miso.

On 16 August 2025, the rapper posted a TikTok video showing the cat visiting her in the studio. According to Billboard, Megan said Miso is a street cat that had been present throughout the entire Act III recording process, and that she considers the cat's orange colour a sign of good luck (Billboard).

The studio hospitality was considerable. Megan's team fed Miso pieces of steak from STK, the restaurant chain, Billboard reported.

Miso is not Megan Thee Stallion's only animal companion by a wide margin. Her pet roster already includes a Maine Coon cat named 9; three French bulldogs named Dos, Foe and Onita; a pit bull named 5ive; a Cane Corso named X; a rescue pup named Tyger; and a Merle pooch named Six (Billboard).

The album Miso has been supervising is the follow-up to Megan, Megan Thee Stallion's 2024 album, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 — the chart that ranks the most-consumed albums in the United States each week, combining physical sales, digital downloads and streaming equivalent album units, the measure that converts plays into album sales. Across her career, Megan has logged three No. 1 singles and 43 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly ranking of the most-consumed songs in the US.

Act III is expected in 2026, though no official release date has been set as of August 2026 (Complex). As of June 2026, Megan was still finalising the record, according to iHeartRadio (iHeartRadio).

The album will arrive through a deal structure that is notable in the current major-label landscape. In August 2025, Megan announced a distribution partnership with Interscope Records — one of the labels under Universal Music Group — that allows her to retain full ownership of her masters and publishing while releasing music through her own company, Hot Girl Productions. Masters are the original sound recordings; owning them means the artist controls how the music is licensed, sold and reissued, rather than the label holding that control indefinitely. Publishing rights govern the underlying compositions — the songs themselves, separate from any particular recording of them.

What gives the setup weight is that major-label distribution deals where the artist keeps both masters and publishing remain relatively rare, particularly for artists operating at the top of the charts. Megan Thee Stallion has been candid about the financial and creative reasons for structuring the deal this way, framing ownership as the point rather than a negotiating footnote.

For now, the most reliable production update on Act III comes from the cat. Miso, fed on STK steak and apparently considered a lucky charm, has been in the room for the whole process. The album will be the third instalment in a project that began with Megan in 2024 and continued with Megan: Act II. A release date has not been confirmed.
