System of a Down Announce 'One Night Only' in Rio With Faith No More
System of a Down will play a single concert at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on January 15, 2027, with Faith No More joining as special guest. The band is calling the show "One Night Only," and it serves as a warm-up before a broader 2027 tour across South America, Australia and New Zealand, Billboard reported on August 17.
Presale tickets open Tuesday, August 18 at 10 a.m. local time, with first access reserved for fans who sign up for the band's email list. General ticket sales begin Friday, August 21 at noon.
The Rio date feeds directly into a previously announced Australia and New Zealand run, also with Faith No More. That leg opens January 22 at Accor Stadium in Sydney, then hits Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on January 27, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on February 1, and closes February 7 in Wellington, New Zealand, Billboard confirmed in July. A full South America tour around the Rio date has been announced but specific cities and dates have not yet been detailed.
Faith No More's involvement traces back to a long-term global touring deal the band signed with South American concert promoter 30e, which opened the door for its reunion and additional tour dates, Revolver reported in late July.
For System of a Down, the Rio concert and the 2027 tour dates add to a live calendar that already includes a scheduled appearance at Sick New World Texas on October 24, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas, per the band's official website. The band's most recent studio album remains Hypnotize, released in 2005 as the second half of a double-album concept with Mezmerize. No new album has been announced.
For fans, the draw is straightforward: two bands whose studio output has been sparse for years, sharing a stadium stage in one of football's most famous venues.
