Resident Evil's Angela Sant'Albano Reportedly Steps in as the New Voice of Tides of Annihilation's Gwendolyn

Angela Sant'Albano, the actor behind Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, is reportedly replacing Jennifer English as the voice of Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation, according to Eurogamer and PC Gamer.
Eclipse Glow Games, the studio developing the title, confirmed on 18 July 2026 via its official X account that English was stepping away from the role. English had informed the developers she could no longer provide the English-language voice for Gwendolyn due to personal health reasons, a decision first reported by IGN and Game Informer on 18–20 July 2026. English said she would continue to support the project despite no longer voicing its protagonist.
English is widely known for two breakout roles: Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Her departure from Tides of Annihilation left the question of who would take over as Gwendolyn, the game's main protagonist — a character players will spend the entire story following.
The replacement has not been officially confirmed, but the evidence points firmly toward Sant'Albano. Eurogamer reports that Jennifer Prime, the motion-capture performer for Gwendolyn, supported the suspicion that Sant'Albano is the new voice. PC Gamer separately reported the same apparent casting on 17 August 2026.
Sant'Albano's most recent role was Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, giving her a profile that fits a high-profile protagonist recast.
Tides of Annihilation retells Arthurian legend set in modern-day London, and is in development for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. No release date has been announced.
Separately, the game has already been drawing fan attention for a different reason. A Tides of Annihilation producer responded publicly on 17 August after Gwendolyn's redesigned look sparked debate among fans, according to IGN Southeast Asia — suggesting the character's visual identity has been a live conversation point even before the voice change surfaced.
For fans, the recast is part of the ordinary churn of game production — schedules shift, health comes first, and studios adjust. What makes this particular swap notable is the talent involved: a Baldur's Gate 3 favourite making way for a Resident Evil lead, on a game that has no release window yet. Eclipse Glow Games has not formally confirmed Sant'Albano's casting, so the claim carries that qualifier. But with the motion-capture performer lending it weight, the signals are consistent.
