Remi Wolf Announces New Album 'Mud,' Out October 9 on Island Records
Remi Wolf will release her new album, Mud, on October 9 via Island Records. The announcement came on August 18, accompanied by an 11-track list and a promotional phone number fans can text for a chance at a reply from Wolf herself (Pitchfork).
The tracklist runs: Bottle, Champagne, Twiggy, Burn Me Blue, Jamie, Covered In Mud, Moon So High, I Won't Cry, Wine Drunk, Guess, Yellow Rose. Wolf's Instagram bio now reads "Dear god, I'm covered in mud," tying her personal feed directly to the album's title.
Wolf described the recording process in visceral terms. "I literally felt like I was covered in shit," she said. "And now, at the end of the album process, I feel so clean and clear" (Pitchfork). The album's title, and the mud motif running through its rollout, appear to draw from that experience of working through discomfort toward clarity.
The single "Twiggy" arrived in the weeks before the album announcement, marking Wolf's first new single in two years since her previous album Big Ideas. She debuted the song the weekend before its release during a surprise appearance at Hayley Williams' set at the Newport Folk Festival. Wolf has said she wrote "Twiggy" about people she has been with who "lack both butts and emotional availability" (Pitchfork).
The "Twiggy" music video, announced via an Instagram reel captioned "BIRTHING THIS CHILD ON FRIDAY" on July 28, features mud wrestling, Uggs, and what Stereogum described as "creepy artsy models hanging out in the woods" (Stereogum). Wolf has described the video's mud pit as a symbol of emotional turmoil, and the soap as a cleansing — or at least an attempt at one. She also released a behind-the-scenes video on YouTube, calling the song "very special" to her.
Wolf's official website now hosts a "Mud Hotline" page where fans can text a listed number and potentially receive a message back from the artist. It is one of several direct-to-fan touches in the rollout, alongside the Instagram bio update and the Newport Folk Festival appearance.
For listeners, Mud represents Wolf's first full-length since Big Ideas, and the two-year gap between releases is bridged by a rollout that has leaned into both the mess and the polish — mud pits and cleansing soap, personal phone numbers and carefully staged festival cameos. The album arrives October 9.
