The Traitors India Season 2 Tops Prime Video's Global Non-English Chart in Launch Week
The Traitors India Season 2 became Prime Video's No. 1 non-English title worldwide in its launch week, after premiering on 13 August. The reality series also ranked among the streaming platform's global Top 10 original series (Variety, 20 August 2026).
Hosted and produced by filmmaker Karan Johar, the show is set against the backdrop of Suryagarh Palace in Rajasthan and follows 21 celebrity contestants. The format pits a group of "Innocents" against secretly chosen "Traitors" — players must work out who among them is sabotaging the group before it is too late. New installments drop weekly on Thursdays, exclusive to Prime Video.
The Season 2 cast spans reality stars, actors, musicians and comedians, including Munawar Faruqui, Rhea Chakraborty, Mallika Sherawat, Shweta Tiwari, Krystle D'souza, Ranveer Brar, Harman Singha, Ansh Chopra, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Abhishek Malhan, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Parul Gulati, Prish, Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Soundous Moufakir, Tanya Puri and veteran actor Dalip Tahil (Variety, 20 August 2026).
Produced by Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment in collaboration with All3Media International, the series is the Indian version of IDTV's The Traitors format — a format that has won BAFTA and Emmy honours. All3Media International handles distribution for the format globally.
Prime Video India greenlit Season 2 after the first season reached 88 per cent of India's postal codes — a metric the platform uses to measure geographic reach across the country (Variety, 25 June 2025). That broad footprint gave the platform confidence to order a second run.
Johar, who won best entertainment host for the first season at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in December 2025 (Variety, 4 December 2025), pointed to the show's tension as the draw. "The unpredictable nature of The Traitors India Season 2 keeps audiences on the edge of their seats," he said (Variety, 20 August 2026).
Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals for Prime Video's subscription service and Amazon MGM Studios India, said the response to Season 2 has been "phenomenal" (Variety, 20 August 2026). Prime Video unveiled the high-stakes trailer for the season on the same day as the premiere (Amazon MGM Studios press release, 13 August 2026).
For viewers, the weekly Thursday release means the conversation around who is faithful and who is a Traitor stretches across the coming weeks rather than landing all at once. Twenty-one celebrities, one palace, and a format that has already proven itself in markets from the UK to Australia — now sitting at the top of a global streaming chart in a language other than English.
