Prime Video India has dropped the trailer for Season 2 of The Traitors, and the celebrity lineup is bigger, the palace is grander, and there is a new character whose only job is to deliver doom.

The unscripted competition series, hosted by filmmaker and television host Karan Johar, debuts exclusively on Prime Video on 13 August, with new episodes rolling out every Thursday, according to Variety. Season 2 was filmed at the Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer, the sandstone fort hotel in Rajasthan's Thar Desert.

For the format's premise: a group of Innocents must identify the hidden Traitors among them before being eliminated, while the Traitors work to stay concealed and quietly pick off their opponents one round at a time. Think dinner-party deception with celebrity stakes.

Twenty-one contestants enter the palace this season. The names span Bollywood, reality television, music, comedy, sport and social media: Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Abhishek Malhan (Fukraa Insaan), Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Krystle D'souza, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish, Ranveer Brar, Rhea Chakraborty, Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir and Tanya Puri.

Johar is not alone this season. He is joined by a new character named Boo, billed as the harbinger of "Buri Khabar" — Hindi for bad news. The trailer launch followed a promotional event in which Prime Video unveiled the full contestant lineup through what it called a "Dining Theater of Treachery" experience.

The Indian edition is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital content arm of Dharma Productions, in association with All3Media International. The format itself was developed by IDTV and has won both BAFTA and Emmy Awards. All3Media International distributes the format rights across more than 30 territories, making it one of the most widely licensed unscripted properties on television.

What makes the show's return notable is the sheer density of the cast. Twenty-one contestants is a crowd for any elimination format, and each brings a different audience — film fans, stand-up followers, cricket watchers, YouTube subscribers. That is the machine at work: one format, many fandoms, all funnelled toward the same Thursday slot on the same platform.
