The Traitors India Returns for Season 2 on Prime Video This August

Prime Video will globally premiere Season 2 of The Traitors India on 13 August, with new episodes streaming every Thursday. Karan Johar returns as host, guiding 21 celebrities through a reality game built on trust, betrayal and deception. Variety
The show is a local adaptation of The Traitors, a format created by Dutch producer IDTV that has won both a BAFTA and an Emmy. All3Media International, which licenses the format, has sold local versions to more than 30 territories, with episodes airing via tape sales — essentially, licensed broadcast of pre-recorded episodes — in more than 50 additional countries. The format has been adapted in more than 40 territories worldwide.
For the Indian edition, the production setup pairs two studios. Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital content arm of Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, produces in collaboration with All3Media International. Dharmatic was formed in 2018 and has produced more than 25 titles, including Call Me Bae and Love Storiyaan. It also has an upcoming global game show format hosted by Johar, though details on that project remain limited.
Prime Video's Indian Originals slate — the platform's commissioned programming for the market — includes Mirzapur, The Family Man, Panchayat, Paatal Lok and Rise & Fall. Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India, oversees that lineup. The platform's bet on The Traitors India has already drawn recognition: the first season entered the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards with four national wins. Variety
All3Media International's catalogue spans more than 35,000 hours of content, and the company recently completed an $8 billion merger with Banijay Entertainment — a deal that consolidates two major production and distribution houses under one roof. Sabrina Duguet, executive VP for APAC at All3Media International, handles the company's licensing business across the Asia-Pacific region.
What makes the format travel so well is its simplicity. A group of contestants lives together and completes challenges for a prize pot, while a secret subset — the "traitors" — eliminates players one by one without revealing themselves. The rest must figure out who the traitors are before it is too late. No two versions cast it the same way, which is why 40-plus territories have found an audience for it.
For Indian viewers, the appeal of Season 2 will likely rest on the 21 celebrity names and the dynamic Johar creates as host. Prime Video has not yet released the full cast list. The weekly Thursday release pattern mirrors the first season's scheduling approach, keeping the show in conversation across each episode cycle rather than dropping all at once.
The global premiere means the show will be available to Prime Video subscribers worldwide on the same date, not staggered by region — a signal that the platform sees the Indian adaptation as a title with cross-border appeal.
