Nintendo Confirms UK Switch 2 Price Hike to £419.99 as Global Increases Take Effect September 1
Nintendo has confirmed the UK price of its Switch 2 console will rise by £24, from £395.99 to £419.99, with the increase taking effect on 1 September 2025.
The confirmation came in a statement posted on the official X account for the Nintendo Store UK on 20 August 2025, ending weeks of uncertainty for British buyers. Nintendo had first announced back in May 2025 that it would raise Switch 2 prices across the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, citing "changes in market conditions" and the company's global business outlook, but had left the UK figure unspecified at the time (VideoGamesChronicle).
The UK was not alone in waiting. Nintendo told BBC Newsbeat in May that a revised UK price would be confirmed "at a later date," leaving the region as one of the last to receive its updated figure (BBC Newsbeat).
Japan's increase actually took effect on 25 May 2025, where all Nintendo hardware rose by roughly ¥10,000 (about US$63). Every other region follows on 1 September.

- Canada: up CA$50, from CA$629.99 to CA$679.99
- Europe: up €30, from €469.99 to €499.99
- United Kingdom: up £24, from £395.99 to £419.99
In the weeks leading up to the September hike, Nintendo began warning in-store customers in the US, UK and mainland Europe that the price change was coming, giving buyers a window to purchase at the current rate before the increase (IGN).
The Switch 2 launched in the UK on 4 June 2025, meaning the console will have been on sale for less than three months at its original UK price before the increase kicks in. The system ships with 256 GB of internal storage and replaced the original Switch, which launched in 2017.
For anyone in the UK still weighing a purchase, the clock is straightforward: buy before 1 September and the console costs £395.99. After that, it is £419.99.
