Blood Sacrifice: George Kay's Swedish Crime Thriller Lands on Netflix
Netflix has added a five-episode Swedish crime thriller called Blood Sacrifice to its slate, created by George Kay — the writer behind Hijack and Lupin (Variety). The series is a 2026 TV-MA thriller, according to Netflix's title page. Netflix announced the show in June 2026 with first-look images, then followed up with a trailer in early August (Netflix Newsroom, 24 June 2026; Netflix Newsroom, 3 August 2026).
The series opens at an emergency contact centre in Stockholm, where an operator takes a call from a woman being attacked by a man with a knife. Officers dispatched to the scene are found beheaded the next morning. A second round of officer beheadings follows, leading the detectives at the centre of the story to realise the killer is specifically targeting police (Variety).
Police Chief Lucas Lind, played by Anders Mossling, puts homicide detective Thomas Berg in charge of the investigation. Berg is played by Jakob Oftebro. He brings in newly minted detective Natalie Eklund, played by Electra Hallman, and turns to his own father Alfred — played by Peter Andersson — for help. Alfred is a once-celebrated homicide detective who was forced to resign over alcoholism and evidence tampering. Berg's friend and fellow detective Max Abrahamsson is played by Henrik Norlén, and Irina Björklund also appears in the cast (Variety; IMDb). Thomas Berg's wife Charlotte is played by Lisette T. Pagler, and his young daughter Bonnie by Alva Peedu Järmén (Variety).
Kay himself has described the show as "at its heart… a love story between an estranged father and son duo, whose work draws them back together" (Netflix Newsroom, 24 June 2026). Variety's review frames the series around that same dynamic — a fractured father-son relationship set against the mental toll of police work (Variety).
