Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hillary Clinton and Paul Rudd will host a karaoke fundraiser in New York on 19 October, with proceeds supporting two political organisations: Latino Victory Project and Onward Together.
The event, first reported by Billboard on 20 August, will feature a lineup of special guest performers singing along to their favourite songs. Details on which guests will take the mic have not yet been announced.
Fans across the U.S. can enter a sweepstakes for an all-inclusive VIP package tied to the event. The prize includes a meet-and-greet with Miranda and Clinton, round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and VIP tickets to the karaoke night. Each sweepstakes entry directly supports the two beneficiary organisations, meaning donors get a shot at the event while channelling money to the causes.
Latino Victory Project has operated since 2014 to build political power in the Latino community, focusing on voter education and backing Latino candidates at every level of government. Onward Together, the organisation Clinton launched after her 2016 presidential run, encourages Americans to organise, get involved and run for office while advancing progressive values and what the group describes as resisting bullying, hate, falsehoods and divisiveness.
