Nintendo has pushed back on a reported 24 September release date for The Duskbloods, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive from Elden Ring studio FromSoftware. The date appeared at the end of The Guardian's preview coverage, written during a press trip to Tokyo to play the game ahead of a closed network test — a limited online session used to stress-test servers before launch.
When Eurogamer contacted Nintendo to confirm, a company spokesperson was blunt: "The release date is inaccurate because there is no information regarding [the] release date of the Duskbloods" Eurogamer. Other outlets on the same Tokyo preview trip did not include a specific date in their coverage, instead writing that the game would arrive later in 2026.
That 2026 window is the one Nintendo itself is sticking to. The company's official US store listing gives the release as 2026 with no specific day Nintendo US. FromSoftware reaffirmed the same window in a recent financial report, stating the game is still releasing worldwide on Switch 2 in 2026 and has not been delayed to 2027 Vice.
The denial landed one day before a closed network test of the game, which Nintendo had announced for 20 July 2026 Nintendo Australia. Leaked gameplay footage also surfaced online around the same period, was re-uploaded to the Chinese social media platform Bilibili, and was later taken down Eurogamer.
For players trying to piece together what The Duskbloods actually is, the details are still fairly sparse. Nintendo's store page describes it as an online multiplayer game with battles of up to eight players. The setting is the "Dusk of Humanity," and players take the role of "Bloodsworn of Dusk" — supernatural beings granted abilities by the power of blood Nintendo US.
