Mac Miller Estate Releases Unreleased Song 'Butterflies' Ahead of 'The Divine Feminine' 10th Anniversary

Mac Miller's estate has released "Butterflies," a previously unheard song, to streaming platforms. The track arrives ahead of a 10th anniversary edition of Miller's 2016 album The Divine Feminine, set for release on 2 October 2026, and available for pre-order now (Rolling Stone).

"Butterflies" was produced by Taylor Graves and features bass from Thundercat, a longtime Miller collaborator, with trumpet by Daniel Hardaway. The song is one of three new additions to the anniversary track list, which keeps the original 10 tracks and appends three new ones. The titles of the other two new songs have not been announced.

First released in 2016, The Divine Feminine was Miller's fourth studio album. Its guest list spanned Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, CeeLo Green, Ty Dolla Sign and Ariana Grande. Miller died in September 2018 at the age of 26.

Alongside the single, the estate launched a new Mac Miller website, designed in collaboration with James Musgrave and Kate Doyle for XXIX. The site coincides with the anniversary rollout but stands as its own piece of the campaign.

For fans, "Butterflies" offers a first listen to music from the Divine Feminine sessions that sat unreleased for a decade. Posthumous releases carry a particular weight: each song is both a creative artefact and a reminder of what was left unfinished. The estate has not indicated whether further unreleased material from the era exists beyond the two still-untitled tracks on the anniversary edition.
