The new season is described as a standalone 10-episode run, meaning it tells its own story rather than directly continuing the first season's narrative. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was first revealed as an anime adaptation of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 role-playing game, produced in collaboration with Studio Trigger. The first season, which premiered in September 2022, followed a street kid named David Martinez in the neon-soaked dystopia of Night City. The second season was first revealed in June 2026.
The original series found a substantial audience. According to Netflix data cited by Eurogamer, the first season amassed almost 15 million hours of watch time in its opening week on the platform.
For fans, the release brings more than just the show. CD Projekt Red's official merchandise shop lists a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Hunted TTG — a tabletop game bundle — with an estimated ship date of October 2026 (CD Projekt Red Gear). The shop also lists a FigZero 1/6 scale David Martinez figure, a collectible statue of the first season's protagonist, priced at US$237 with an estimated ship date of October 2026 (CD Projekt Red Gear).
That both the merchandise and the series are pegged to the same month suggests a coordinated rollout, though CD Projekt Red has not explicitly framed it that way.
