The Blood of Dawnwalker Won't Hit 60fps on Consoles at Launch

The Blood of Dawnwalker will not offer a 60fps mode on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S when it launches on 3rd September, according to developer Rebel Wolves (Eurogamer).
For players used to a "performance mode" — a setting that lowers visual fidelity to push the game to 60 frames per second, the threshold many consider smooth for action games — that option simply will not exist on consoles at launch. The game is targeting 60fps on PC, but console players will choose between two modes: a Quality Mode targeting 30fps at dynamic 4K, and a Balanced Mode targeting 40fps at dynamic 4K (Eurogamer).
On PS5 Pro, Sony's mid-cycle hardware refresh, the game will hit the same frame rates and resolutions as on base consoles but with enhanced visual quality across both modes (Eurogamer).
The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio co-founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who previously served as game director on The Witcher 3 and head of production and secondary game director on Cyberpunk 2077. It is published by Bandai Namco. The game is a narrative-driven, single-player RPG set in a dark medieval world, and its 3rd September release date was announced earlier this year (Eurogamer).
The absence of a 60fps console option has stirred discussion among fans. Some have expressed hope for a post-launch performance patch, while others have said they would have preferred a lower-resolution 60fps mode over the higher-fidelity options on offer (Eurogamer). Eurogamer reported that it could not confirm whether a 60fps patch is in development, noting it would update if further information became available.
For context, the current console generation has made 60fps modes a common expectation, with many major releases offering both a fidelity-focused and a performance-focused option. Some games, however, have shipped without one at launch and added it later. Whether The Blood of Dawnwalker follows that path is not yet known.
What is clear is the trade-off Rebel Wolves has chosen: higher resolution and richer visuals over a higher frame rate, at least on day one.
