Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will include a 60fps Performance Mode on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X at launch, reversing earlier indications that the console versions would be capped at lower framerates. The mode will arrive via the game's day-one patch when it releases on 3 September on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The confirmation, made on 24 August, supersedes earlier reporting that the vampire action-RPG would ship without a 60fps option on consoles. Rebel Wolves had previously stated on X that the Performance Mode was already in the works but still being tested, and that the studio was not ready to promise it until it was confident the feature would hold up.

Now it is confident. The Performance Mode targets 60 frames per second across PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, with the PS5 Pro providing additional overall visual enhancements. The Xbox Series S version remains capped at 30fps.

Players who prefer image quality over smoothness have two other options. A Quality Mode runs at 30fps targeting a dynamic 4K resolution, and a Balanced Mode targets 40fps at the same dynamic 4K resolution — a middle ground designed for displays that support high refresh rates.

For players who have been tracking the game's development, the reversal is a welcome one. Framerate has become a flashpoint in the current console generation, with players increasingly expecting 60fps as a baseline rather than a premium feature. When early signals suggested The Blood of Dawnwalker would launch without it, the response from console owners was vocal.

Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt Red developers, is building The Blood of Dawnwalker as its debut title. The game casts players as a vampire navigating a dark medieval world, with a day-night cycle that shapes how its story and systems unfold. Its 3 September release puts it in a competitive autumn window.

For fans who already have their hardware sorted, the takeaway is straightforward: if you are playing on PS5, PS5 Pro, or Xbox Series X, you will have the option to play at 60fps from day one. Series S owners will play at 30fps. And the studio that once said "not yet" is now saying "yes."
