Mrs. GREEN APPLE will release its sixth studio album on 30 September via EMI Records, arriving months after the band became the first act to book four shows at Tokyo's MUFG Stadium — the venue also known as Japan National Stadium — and the first J-pop act to surpass 10 billion streams in Japan across its catalog, according to Billboard Japan (Billboard, 24 August 2026).

The 70,000 fans who filled the stadium in July 2026 were fan-club members only. Those two Tokyo dates closed out the Zenjin Mito To IM/Mutable tour, a six-show run that also touched Osaka's Yanmar Stadium Nagai in May. The tour name draws from the band's long-running Zenjin Mito series of self-produced concerts, which dates back to 2014; "zenjin mito" translates to "unprecedented" in Japanese. The July shows were Mrs. GREEN APPLE's first time booking a stadium in Tokyo (Billboard, 24 August 2026).

Vocalist-guitarist Motoki Ohmori, 29, leads the three-piece, which formed independently in 2013 and made its major-label debut on EMI — a Universal Music label — in 2015 (Billboard, 24 August 2026). The band's catalog has moved well beyond Japan's borders. In 2025, Mrs. GREEN APPLE landed at No. 13 on IFPI's Global Artist chart — the annual ranking that measures worldwide consumption across formats — placing between Tyler, The Creator and SEVENTEEN, and marking the highest position a Japanese act has ever held on the list. The band's anniversary compilation album, titled 10, reached No. 10 on IFPI's Global Album chart and was the only release by a Japanese artist in that ranking's top 10 (Billboard, 24 August 2026). Released on 8 July 2025 to mark ten years since the band's debut, 10 also prompted Tokyo Tower to be lit lime green in the band's honour (uDiscover Music, 7 July 2025).

On the Billboard Japan Hot 100, the band scored its first two weekly No. 1s in 2025 with "Heaven" in May and "Breakfast" in June, then added a third in January 2026 with "Lulu," the season-two opening theme for the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Of Mrs. GREEN APPLE's 12 total entries on the chart, six have reached the top 10 — all released between 2025 and 2026 (Billboard, 24 August 2026). The band closed 2025 at the top of Billboard Japan's year-end Hot 100 and Artist 100 charts and has won the artist-of-the-year prize at Music Awards Japan in both of the ceremony's first two editions, 2025 and 2026 (Billboard, 24 August 2026). The band released the single "Brand New" in July 2026 and another single, "Wind and Town," earlier in the year (Apple Music; YouTube Music).

Universal Music Japan president and CEO Naoshi Fujikura told Billboard that the Billboard Japan chart placements have helped share the strength and appeal of the Japanese music market more widely (Billboard, 24 August 2026). For a band whose name was already circulating among Billboard's list of local Japanese breakthroughs in April 2022 (Billboard bulletin, 24 April 2022), the September album — paired with a year of stadium shows, chart milestones and a global top-10 placement — places Mrs. GREEN APPLE in a commercial tier that few Japanese acts have reached.
