Dianne Wiest and Ciarán Hinds to Star in Comedy-Drama 'This Old Love Of Mine'

Dianne Wiest and Ciarán Hinds will lead the comedy-drama This Old Love Of Mine, with WestEnd Films handling world sales ahead of the Toronto International Film Festival market, according to Deadline Deadline.

The film pairs a two-time Oscar winner with an Oscar nominee. Wiest, who won Academy Awards for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway, most recently appeared in Mayor of Kingstown and Only Murders In The Building. Hinds earned his nomination for Belfast and has lately starred in the Britbox series The Dry and the limited drama The Narrow Road To The Deep North Deadline.

In the film, Harry and Margo Bannon's happy retirement is upended when Harry discovers a letter revealing Margo had an affair early in their marriage. He files for divorce and summons their three grown children home. The script comes from Irish actor-turned-writer Eugene O'Hare.

Terry Loane directs, reuniting with WestEnd Films and the producing team behind his 2023 film The Last Rifleman, which starred Pierce Brosnan. That title was distributed by Sky Cinema in the UK and Ireland, Samuel Goldwyn Films in North America, and Universal Pictures Content Group in several other territories. Producers on the new project are Katy Jackson and John Leslie for Wee Buns Films, alongside Jac Kerrin and Dominic Wright for Ripple World Pictures.

Loane described his approach as warm, intimate and performance-led, aiming to preserve the film's distinctly Irish character while exploring themes of love, betrayal and forgiveness. WestEnd's managing director Maya Amsellem called Wiest and Hinds an exceptional pairing for the roles.

This Old Love Of Mine is set to shoot in the UK and Ireland in autumn 2026. That timeline puts it on the path toward a likely 2027 release, with WestEnd presenting it to international buyers at TIFF — the Toronto festival's market, where sales agents and distributors negotiate which films reach screens in the months and years ahead.
