Annie Murphy and Cooper Raiff bring babysitter rom-com All That She Wants to TIFF

Annie Murphy plays a woman who falls for the boy she used to babysit in All That She Wants.

Murphy stars as Emma opposite Cooper Raiff as Luke in the romantic comedy, directed by Scarlett Bermingham and Andrew Rhymer from a script by David West Read, Deadline. The set-up is simple. Emma was once Luke's babysitter. Years later, they meet again as adults.

The film arrived as a World Premiere in the Special Presentations programme at the Toronto International Film Festival, a sidebar for high-profile new work, TIFF. Its first screening was scheduled for Sunday, 13 September at 9:30 PM at TIFF Lightbox. The production is listed as a USA-Canada title.

Murphy, Raiff, Bermingham and Rhymer appeared together for a Deadline TIFF Studio panel at the Bisha Hotel to talk through the launch. Murphy was also photographed at the Deadline photo studio on Day 3 of the festival, on 13 September, Deadline.

The business team is in place. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales and CAA is handling domestic sales, the companies tasked with finding distributors territory by territory. That sales structure is normal for an independent festival premiere still seeking release deals.

Bermingham is a Los Angeles-based writer, actor and director, TIFF. She and Rhymer also took part in a TIFF Dialogues session titled “Local Sets, Global Laughs: Filming Comedies in Ontario” alongside Ron Murphy and Ella Ballentine. The festival catalogue describes the film as sexy, hilarious and disarmingly perceptive about long-term entanglements.

What makes this stand out on the calendar is the corridor it is using. Toronto premieres often set the terms for autumn sales and winter release dates. All That She Wants entered that market with its cast and directors front and centre, and early coverage has followed.
