Pepe Aguilar Tops Billboard's New Music Latin Poll With Live Hollywood Bowl Album
Pepe Aguilar's new live album 'Los Aguilar Sinfónico desde El Hollywood Bowl' has won Billboard's New Music Latin poll for the week, earning nearly 50 percent of the vote, Billboard reported on Aug. 24.
The 25-track album was recorded across two performances at the Hollywood Bowl in August, where Aguilar shared the stage with his children, Leonardo and Ángela Aguilar. The shows fused mariachi staples — 'Por Mujeres Como Tú,' 'Directo Al Corazón,' and 'La Llorona' among them — with the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra. Aguilar told Billboard that no Mexican music artist had performed at the venue in the 23 years since he last played there in 2002. 'I returned, but with my children — that's very fulfilling,' he said in a separate Billboard interview published Aug. 20.
Grupo Bryndis' medley 'Ayer y Hoy II' finished as runner-up with more than 38 percent of the vote. Billboard publishes the results of its weekly New Music Latin poll — a reader-voted survey that spotlights new Latin releases — only when turnout exceeds 1,000 votes. The same week's poll also featured new music from Los Ángeles Azules, TINI, Yuridia, and Farruko, and Billboard ran a Spanish-language edition of the poll article on its Billboard en Español vertical.
Aguilar is scheduled to bring the symphonic-mariachi format to Houston's Jones Hall for the Performing Arts on August 28 and 29, 2026, performing with the Houston Symphony. Unlike the Hollywood Bowl shows, the Houston dates will be a solo outing — Leonardo and Ángela are not part of the billing, according to the Houston Symphony's website.
For a singer whose career has spanned rancheras, pop crossovers, and now orchestral collaborations, the Hollywood Bowl return carries a personal thread: a family on stage where he once stood alone, and a venue that waited more than two decades for Mexican music to come back.
