Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying the longest reign ever for a song that is not a holiday track. The milestone puts her alongside Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," which each held the top spot for the same duration, Rolling Stone reported on 24 August 2026.
The Billboard Hot 100 is the US singles chart that ranks songs by a blend of streaming, radio airplay and sales — the most widely watched measure of a song's national reach. Only one non-holiday song has ever stayed longer: Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" holds the all-time record at 22 weeks, but it climbs the chart seasonally each December, which places it in a separate holiday category.
Langley's run is also the longest No. 1 reign by a female country artist in the chart's history, according to Rolling Stone. Billboard's own chart report confirmed the 19th week at the summit, tying "Choosin' Texas" for the longest command among non-holiday songs since the Hot 100 launched in 1958, Billboard reported.
"Choosin' Texas" was first released in October 2025 and became Langley's first No. 1 song when it reached the top in February. The track steadily climbed through the spring and summer, passing one chart landmark after another. By mid-April it had already reached 20 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, the genre's main songs ranking, tying for the ninth-longest command on that tally, Billboard reported at the time.
The song's dominance has coincided with a broader country presence on the Hot 100. During its 16th week at No. 1, country songs occupied the entire top five for the first time in the chart's history, Billboard reported. A week later, country tracks held the top four positions.
Langley released her sophomore album, Dandelion, in April via Sawgod/Columbia — a joint label imprint under Columbia Records, which is part of Sony Music. The album arrived while "Choosin' Texas" was already entrenched at No. 1, extending the song's visibility into the album rollout.
The 19-week figure surpasses earlier chart milestones tracked throughout the summer. The song logged its 17th week at No. 1 on the 15 August-dated chart, at which point Billboard ranked it the fourth-longest command in Hot 100 history, Billboard reported on 13 August. By the 22 August-dated chart, it had reached 18 weeks, Billboard confirmed on 18 August, before the 19th week was announced.
What makes this stand out is the company Langley now keeps. "Old Town Road" was a viral phenomenon that blurred genre lines in 2019; "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" did the same in 2024. "Choosin' Texas" has matched both without the same cycle of controversy or cross-genre remixing that surrounded those earlier runs — it simply stayed. For a female country artist to hold the Hot 100 for nearly five months is a chart fact that has not occurred before, and it now sits three weeks short of the all-time record Carey has built over a decade of seasonal returns.
