Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' ties Hot 100 record with 22 weeks at No. 1

Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' has spent 22 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying the all-time record for the longest run at the top. The mark was previously held alone by Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You', Pitchfork reported on 14 September.

One more week at No. 1 would give Langley the outright record. It would make 'Choosin' Texas' the longest-running No. 1 single in US chart history.

The Hot 100 is Billboard's weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States. Langley's run has been unbroken. Carey's total was built across several years.

That history has turned over quickly in recent years. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's 'One Sweet Day' set the standard with 16 weeks at No. 1. The 'Despacito' remix by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber equalled that 16-week run in 2017.

Lil Nas X then moved the bar with 'Old Town Road', which spent 19 weeks at No. 1. Shaboozey matched that 19-week total with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' in late 2024. 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' added weeks at No. 1 each holiday season since 2019 before reclaiming the longest-running record.

'Choosin' Texas' was released in October 2025 as the lead single from Langley's third studio album, 'Dandelion'. It entered the Billboard charts the next month and first reached No. 1 in February. It is the country singer's first Hot 100 leader.

'Dandelion' also reached No. 1 on the US albums chart, where it spent two weeks in April. The single has since set the record for most weeks at No. 1 for a non-holiday song, Billboard reported.

What makes this stand out is the shape of the two tied runs. Carey's Christmas hit returns each December. Langley's 22 weeks have come in one continuous stretch.

The song dominated the summer. Billboard named 'Choosin Texas' the No. 1 Song of the Summer for 2026, with country titles taking the top three places on that seasonal ranking, Billboard reported. The track also reached No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

Its chart strength has spread across formats. In late August it logged a 19th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs and a 16th week on Digital Song Sales. Langley also holds the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Country Producers chart among women, with 10 weeks through 22 August.
