Amy Winehouse's Back to Black Gets 20th Anniversary Reissue with Unreleased Demos and Full Paradiso Live Set
Amy Winehouse's Back to Black will receive a 20th anniversary reissue on 23 October, featuring four unreleased demos, a full live album, and a handful of B-sides across expanded 3xLP and 3xCD editions, according to Pitchfork.
The reissue, released via UMR/Island, rounds up demo recordings of several songs that became cornerstones of the original album. Among the four previously unreleased demos are "I'm No Good (You Know I'm No Good – Original Demo)," "Fuckery (Me & Mr Jones – Original Demo)," "Back to Black (Original Demo)," and "Love Is a Losing Game (Original Demo)." Additional demo material — including "Tears Dry (Alternative Demo)" and "I've Been Drinkin' (Just Friends – Alternative Version)" — appeared on a deluxe edition released in November 2007, which paired B-sides, rare tracks, and live recordings on a second disc (Amy Winehouse Store).
The B-sides collected for the anniversary set include "Monkey Man," "Hey Little Rich Girl," "You're Wondering Now," "Do Me Good," and "Close to the Front" (Pitchfork).
The centrepiece for many listeners will be the live portion: 11 tracks recorded at Amsterdam's Paradiso on 8 February 2007, released in full for the first time. The original Back to Black was produced by Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, whose sessions shaped the album's blend of soul, Motown, and contemporary songwriting.
Both the 3xLP and 3xCD editions of the reissue feature alternative cover art, giving the package a visual identity distinct from the 2006 original.
For fans, this means the deepest official dive into the Back to Black sessions yet assembled — the demos offer a window into songs before their final arrangements were locked, and the Paradiso recording captures Winehouse and her band performing the material live just months after the album's release.
The reissue arrives in a year that has already seen the Winehouse estate keep the album's legacy active. The Amy Winehouse Band — the musicians who toured with the singer — announced a UK tour celebrating the 20th anniversary, including a date on Saturday 24 October 2026 (YouTube). A biopic titled Back to Black reached UK and Ireland cinemas in April 2024 (NME), and in January 2024 a new lyric video for "In My Bed" was released, drawing on unseen footage from a 2004 video shoot (NME).
Twenty years on, Back to Black continues to be revisited, recontextualised, and returned to — and on 23 October, listeners will have more of it to hear than ever before.
