Australian Music Manager Ralph Carr Sentenced to Six Years for Rape and Sexual Assault
Australian music promoter and talent manager Ralph Carr has been sentenced to six years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of a young personal assistant who worked for him, a court in Melbourne confirmed on August 25, 2026.
Judge Frank Gucciardo handed down the sentence at the County Court of Victoria, two days after denying a last-ditch legal bid by Carr to halt the sentencing proceedings ABC News. Carr must serve a minimum of four years before he is eligible for parole Billboard.
A jury found Carr guilty of two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He had pleaded not guilty at trial. The crimes took place on the night of March 23, 2023, at Carr's own home, where he attacked the assistant, who was employed by him ABC News.
Carr is currently held at the Melbourne Assessment Prison and will be transferred to Hopkins Correctional Centre in Ararat, a regional city west of Melbourne, to serve his sentence Billboard.
His identity could not be reported publicly until August 3 of this year, when the County Court lifted a suppression order that had been in place for nearly three years Billboard.
Carr's career in the Australian music industry spanned management and live promotion. His management clients over the years included Vanessa Amorosi, Rick Price, Mark Vincent, Kate Ceberano and Tina Arena. He was married to Arena for several years in the mid-to-late 1990s. His live entertainment company, RCM Touring Pty Limited, went into liquidation in 2018 Billboard.
The sentencing brings to a close a legal process that stretched across jury conviction, a failed attempt to stop sentencing, and the lifting of a court order that had kept one of Australia's most connected music-industry figures unnamed in public reporting.
