Fireworks Interrupted the Keeley-Rebecca Reunion in Ted Lasso Season 4 — and the Cast Couldn't Be Happier

Fireworks literally stopped filming on the Ted Lasso Season 4 scene fans have been waiting for. During a reconciliation moment between Keeley Jones and Rebecca Welton in Episode 4, Diwali celebrations nearby sent fireworks skyward — and the actors kept looking up instead of at each other. The scene had to be reshot.

Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham told Deadline they were "chomping at the bit" to film the reunion between their characters, whose friendship frayed in earlier seasons. The reshoot, Waddingham said, gave the cast room to adjust the performance — they got to shoot the whole scene again.

The episode itself leans into the chaos. Keeley tasks Kenneth the Bus Driver with testing different hues of coloured smoke used at women's soccer matches, and those explosions punctuate one of her ideas mid-sentence. The reconciliation scene that follows is quieter: pink fuzzy blankets, thermos mugs, and Rebecca apologising for shutting down so many of Keeley's ideas.

Temple also described Keeley's relationship with Roy Kent in Season 4 as "one for the ages" — though she stopped short of revealing where the romance lands (Deadline).

The show's return carries its own weight. Ted Lasso last aired in 2023, and more than three years passed before cameras rolled again. In a Hollywood Reporter interview published 3 August 2026, Waddingham and Temple spoke about the range of emotions they felt stepping back into those roles. The pair also sat down for a Rapid Fire session with The Hollywood Reporter in late July 2026, trading questions about the series.

Waddingham has history with demanding Ted Lasso scenes. The show's pilot opens with its longest scene — a three-minute stretch with Waddingham as Rebecca (Deadline, October 2021). A Diwali fireworks interruption is, by comparison, a new kind of obstacle.

For fans, the Episode 4 reshoot means the Keeley-and-Rebecca reunion got two passes — the first derailed by real fireworks, the second shaped by two actors who had been waiting for exactly this scene.

Ted Lasso Season 4 is an Apple TV+ series. Waddingham told Deadline that August 2026 is the likely target release window.
