PlayStation Plus September 2026 Free Games Revealed: Sniper Elite, MLB The Show 26, and More

PlayStation has revealed the four free games heading to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in September 2026, and the lineup spans a World War II stealth shooter, a baseball sim, a retro-style JRPG, and a physics-based comedy sandbox.
Subscribers can claim Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Chained Echoes, and Wobbly Life starting September 1, with the offer running through October 5, according to GameSpot. PlayStation Plus Essential is the base tier of Sony's subscription service, which includes online multiplayer access and a rotating selection of free monthly games.
The lineup covers a notably broad range of genres and platforms. Sniper Elite: Resistance drops players behind enemy lines in occupied France during World War II, and is available on both PS5 and PS4. MLB The Show 26 — Sony's long-running baseball franchise, developed by San Diego Studio — is the PS5-only entry this month. Chained Echoes, a single-player Japanese-style RPG set on the war-torn continent of Valandis, is available on PS4 only. Wobbly Life, a lighthearted co-op game built around physics-based chaos, rounds out the selection on PS5 and PS4.
That platform split is worth checking before claim day. Two of the four games are cross-generation, while the other two are locked to a single console — MLB The Show 26 to PS5 and Chained Echoes to PS4. Subscribers with only one of the two consoles will have access to three of the four titles.
For context, August 2026's Essential lineup included Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk on PS5, and Signalis on PS4, plus a MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls PlayStation Plus Pack, as listed on the PlayStation Blog.
The September reveal follows a familiar pattern. PlayStation typically announces its Essential-tier free games in the final week of the month, with the titles going live on the first Tuesday of the following month. This announcement landed on August 26.
For subscribers on the higher Extra and Premium tiers — which add a larger on-demand game catalog beyond the monthly Essential offerings — Sony has a separate reveal date. The first wave of September 2026's Extra and Premium additions will be announced on September 9, according to Forbes.
The Essential games remain available to claim for just over five weeks, giving subscribers until October 5 to add them to their library. Once claimed, the games stay accessible as long as the subscription remains active.
