Hull FC Land Queensland Cup Centre Jordan Swann for 2027

Hull FC have signed Australian centre Jordan Swann on a two-year deal starting in the 2027 season, the club confirmed on 26 August.

The 24-year-old joins from Wynnum-Manly Seagulls, a Queensland Cup side — the second tier of Australian rugby league, one rung below the NRL. He crossed for 10 tries in 13 appearances this season, a strike rate that caught the eye of Hull's recruitment team (BBC Sport).

Swann is the fifth player to commit to Hull FC for 2027, as the club continues to build its squad well ahead of time (BBC Sport).

Talk of the move first surfaced a fortnight earlier, when Hull Live reported that the Black and Whites were working to bring the centre to East Yorkshire (Hull Live, via All Out Rugby League). The deal has now been finalised and announced on the club's official website (Hull FC).

Swann described his own game in straightforward terms. He likes to work hard out of backfield — meaning the defensive area behind his side's attacking line, where a fullback or centre fields kicks and initiates counter-attacks — and then execute with quick hands, strong fends and a right-foot step when his team gets into good ball, the field position from which attacking sets are launched (BBC Sport; Hull FC).

In plain terms, that is a centre who backs himself in defence, moves the ball quickly to his wingers, and has the footwork and upper-body strength to beat defenders one-on-one.
