Evie Templeton and Caylee Cowan to Lead 1960s Road-Tip Drama 'I'll Go If You Go'
Evie Templeton and Caylee Cowan will star in I'll Go If You Go, a 1960s-set road-trip drama and the feature debut of writer-director Abby Tozer, according to Deadline.
Production is scheduled to begin in Shreveport, Louisiana in fall 2026.
The film is set in 1967 West Texas. Templeton plays Ellie Mansfield, a young woman placed in the Rebekah School for Girls, a Baptist reform school. There she bonds with her roommate Brenna Darby, played by Cowan, who proposes stealing a 1966 Mustang and driving across Texas to see the ocean for the first time.
Larsen Thompson joins the cast as Katie Mansfield, Ellie's estranged older sister. The supporting cast includes Maria Breese, Rolf Saxon, and Alice Hewkin.
The story carries personal roots. Tozer, a UC Berkeley neuroscience graduate, drew the script from her own childhood shaped by frequent moves. She and Cowan produce alongside Breese, Brehan Fitzgerald, Deron Tracy, and Alexander Jeffer, with Max Fisher serving as executive producer.
Templeton broke out as Agnes DeMille in Netflix's Wednesday. She can next be seen in Bleecker Street's Victorian Psycho, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and releases later this year; the cast includes Maika Monroe, Ruth Wilson, and Jason Isaacs.
Cowan will next appear in Company, a gothic mystery directed by Casey Affleck that is set to compete at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. The festival runs as one of the three major European film competitions, alongside Cannes and Berlin, where new titles are unveiled to buyers, critics, and audiences ahead of their theatrical or streaming releases.
What gives I'll Go If You Go its texture is the combination of a first-time writer-director with a cast whose members are arriving from very different lanes. Templeton comes from a streaming phenomenon; Cowan from a festival-bound indie directed by an Academy Award winner. Tozer, for her part, is moving from a neuroscience degree to a feature camera. The result is a project that pulls from across the industry spectrum.
