Dark Matter returns to Apple TV+ on Friday, August 28, 2026, with the first episode of a ten-episode second season. New episodes will arrive weekly on Fridays, with the finale set for October 30 — the night before Halloween (Deadline).

Season 2 runs one episode longer than the first season's nine. The full rollout, as confirmed by Deadline on August 26, is: Episode 1 on August 28, Episode 2 on September 4, Episode 3 on September 11, Episode 4 on September 18, Episode 5 on September 25, Episode 6 on October 2, Episode 7 on October 9, Episode 8 on October 16, Episode 9 on October 23, and the finale, Episode 10, on October 30.

Blake Crouch, author of the novel the series is adapted from, published all ten Season 2 episode titles on his Facebook account the same day, confirming the August 28 premiere date independently of Apple's scheduling announcement (Facebook).

Apple had released the official Season 2 trailer on its YouTube channel on July 27, 2026, which also confirmed the premiere date (YouTube).

The series stars Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen and Jennifer Connelly as Daniela Vargas. The returning cast includes Alice Braga as Amanda Lucas, Jimmi Simpson as Ryan Holder, Dayo Okeniyi as Leighton Vance, Oakes Fegley as Charlie Dessen, and Amanda Brugel as Blair Caplan. Brugel was promoted to series regular for Season 2, and Chris Diamantopoulos joined the cast (Deadline).

Dark Matter is based on Crouch's novel of the same name, which marks its tenth anniversary in 2026. Apple TV+ renewed the series for a second season in a press release dated August 16, 2024, a little over three months after the first season's global debut on May 8, 2024 (Apple TV Press). Season 1 episodes dropped weekly on Wednesdays; Season 2 shifts the release day to Friday.

The scheduling places Dark Matter's first two episodes in direct overlap with the penultimate and finale episodes of Silo Season 3, another Apple TV+ sci-fi series, meaning subscribers will have two high-profile genre shows releasing new episodes on the same Fridays in late August and early September (Deadline).

For viewers, the shift to Fridays and the Halloween-adjacent finale slot give the season a deliberate weekly cadence — ten weeks of new episodes running straight through autumn with no announced breaks.
