Marvel has launched the Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast, a weekly video series recapping five cornerstone films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga ahead of December's Avengers: Doomsday theatrical release. The show debuted on 27 August with an episode on The Avengers (2012) and is available on Disney+, YouTube, and audio platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify (Variety; Marvel.com).

Hosting duties fall to Iman Vellani — known to MCU audiences as Kamala Khan, or Ms. Marvel — alongside Frank Alvarez. Both also serve as producers on the series, which is made in partnership with Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions (Variety).

The release schedule is tight and deliberate. Each Wednesday brings a new episode tackling one film: The Avengers on 27 August, Avengers: Age of Ultron on 3 September, Captain America: Civil War on 10 September, Avengers: Infinity War on 17 September, and Avengers: Endgame on 24 September (Variety). The podcast recaps nearly two decades of interconnected storytelling, walking viewers through the saga's biggest beats before the next chapter arrives (Bleeding Cool).

The fifth and final episode lands on 24 September, one day before the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame: Encore on 25 September — a bit of calendar choreography that ties the podcast's conclusion directly to a return to cinemas (Variety).

Avengers: Doomsday itself opens in theatres on 18 December. Anthony and Joe Russo direct, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing alongside Louis D'Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Victor von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom — a casting that positions the actor, long synonymous with Tony Stark, in an entirely new role within the franchise (Variety).

For fans, the podcast is a chance to revisit the Infinity Saga — the overarching storyline spanning the MCU's first phases, culminating in Avengers: Endgame — with the guidance of two hosts who know the material from the inside. Vellani's own character debuted well after that saga concluded, which gives the recap a fan-as-well-as-participant angle. The Omaha Productions partnership, meanwhile, brings the same production infrastructure behind Manning's widely popular sports-content slate into a franchise with its own, no less devoted following.

What makes the launch notable is its format. Marvel has built an audience through streaming series and films, but a structured weekly podcast — released across video and audio simultaneously — is a different kind of build-up campaign, one designed to keep a global audience engaged across platforms in the months before a tentpole release.
