Odette Annable Leads Horror Film 'Postmortem' as Sublimity Launches Sales at TIFF
Odette Annable will lead the cast of Postmortem, a horror film now in post-production from Colombian writer-director Andrés Beltrán, with international sales launching at the Toronto International Film Festival market in September 2026. Annable plays Helena, a forensic medical investigator grieving the death of her husband Richard, played by Andres Londono. Helena becomes obsessed with a disturbing new case and comes to believe she can bring Richard back. The premise places grief at the centre of a genre framework — what Sublimity Entertainment CEO Ryan McCombs, whose LA-based company is handling international sales, described as a combination of emotional storytelling about loss with "elevated genre filmmaking."
The supporting cast brings recognisable faces from across film and television. Allegra Leguizamo, Julio Cesar Cedillo and Tony Revolori round out the ensemble. Revolori is widely known for his role in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel; Annable's credits span the TV series Walker, Supergirl and House.
For Beltrán, Postmortem continues a career built across Colombian and English-language genre work. His previous features include Quicksand, a survival thriller released on the horror streamer Shudder and AMC+, and Tarumama, a Colombian horror film that screened at the Sitges International Film Festival. On television, Beltrán has directed episodes of Netflix's Wild District, Amazon's Primate and the ViX horror anthology La Hora Marcada. He won Best Director at Colombia's India Catalina Awards for the historical drama Bolívar, which also earned him a Best Director nomination at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
The film is produced by Jason Cherubini, Roberto Urbina and Martin Ramos of Cinestesia Films. Executive producers include Luisa Velosa, Alma Hernandez-Hercules, John Harris, J. Todd Harris, Marc Marcum and Thomas Pettinelli. Sublimity Entertainment, led by CEO and co-founder Ryan McCombs and COO and co-founder Alfredo Lara Orbezo, is handling international sales — the business of selling distribution rights territory by territory to buyers attending the TIFF market, where sales agents and distributors negotiate which films reach screens in the months ahead.
With the film still in post-production, the TIFF market gives Sublimity an early window to secure international deals before a finished cut exists — a common playbook for genre titles, where pre-sold territories help finance the final stages of production. No domestic distributor or release date has been announced.
