For players unfamiliar with the comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2's world — a sprawling recreation of the late-1800s American frontier — was already regarded as one of the largest and most densely detailed environments in any video game. Tripling that footprint sets expectations for GTA VI's setting of Leonida, a fictional state modelled on Florida, in a league of its own.
The map detail had actually surfaced two days earlier, when a leak reportedly compared Leonida's landmass against the maps of GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and other Rockstar titles. Beyond the map, the bigger picture for prospective buyers is the release timeline.
