KATSEYE Withdraw From Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Festival After Member Sprains Ankle
KATSEYE have pulled out of Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields festival, announcing their withdrawal just two days before the event. The group member Megan sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal, and doctors advised her to rest so the band can be ready for its upcoming tour.
The six-member group — formed through a joint project between HYBE and Geffen Records — shared the news on their Instagram Story on August 27. "We're so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday," the statement read. "Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour." The festival's official Instagram account posted an updated lineup shortly after, confirming the change and wishing Megan a speedy recovery. Alt-pop singer-songwriter Devon Again stepped in as KATSEYE's replacement on the bill. Billboard
Daisy Chain Fields, a new festival founded by Rodrigo and produced by C3 Presents, debuted on August 29 at the Great Park in Irvine, California. The sold-out, all-women event was headlined by Rodrigo herself, with a lineup that included Chappell Roan, Doechii, Rachel Chinouriri, The Breeders, Garbage and Bikini Kill. Special guests on the day included Stevie Nicks, Karen O and Sarah McLachlan. For KATSEYE, the withdrawal continues a difficult year for the group's lineup. In February, HYBE announced that member Manon would take a hiatus from the group to focus on her mental health. In August, member Sophia revealed she was stepping back from band duties for the same reason. Following those departures, the group's active roster had been reduced to four: Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae and Megan — making Megan's injury a further setback for an already thinned-out lineup. In their statement, KATSEYE expressed particular disappointment at missing the festival's mission-driven atmosphere. "We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it's not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community," they wrote. "We know how much our fans were looking forward to seeing us, and it breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there."
