Big Brother Hits 1,000 Episodes: Fans Pick Their All-Time Favourites as Mallory Aurichio Is Evicted in Week 7

Big Brother aired its 1,000th episode on Thursday, 27 August 2026, and CBS used the milestone to let fans vote on the show's most memorable players and moments — while the Season 28 game rolled on with a Week 7 eviction (Deadline).
Host Julie Chen Moonves returned for the broadcast. She has been the face of the show since its 2000 launch and remains the person who greets evicted houseguests on their way out the door.
The fan vote produced a clean sweep for two of the show's best-known names. Dan Gheesling won Favourite Winner and Best Moment — the latter for his "funeral" speech, a 2012 bit of gameplay so famous that fans still reference it by a single word. Janelle Pierzina took two categories herself: Best to Never Win and Favourite Comp Beast, the latter recognising the contestant who dominated physical and mental competitions. Rachel Reilly's line — "Floaters, grab your life vests" — was voted the show's favourite phrase. The Cookout, an alliance from Season 23, won Favourite Alliance (Deadline).
For anyone new to Big Brother: the show locks a group of strangers inside a camera-filled house, records them around the clock, and eliminates them week by week until one wins a $750,000 prize. Each week, a Head of Household nominates people for eviction. A Power of Veto competition lets one nominee save themselves. The house then votes on who goes.
This week, Dee Valladares held the Head of Household title and nominated Drew Campbell, La Trice Verrett, and Taylor Brown. Verrett won the Veto and pulled herself off the block, and Valladares put Mallory Aurichio up in her place.
Campbell won the BB Block Buster competition, earning safety from the vote. That left Brown and Aurichio facing the house. Angela, Drew, Yash, Haley, Devens, and La Trice voted to evict Aurichio. Melody and Barrett voted for Brown. Aurichio was out, 6 to 2, becoming the seventh housemate evicted this season (Deadline).
The season's house theme is "Time Trip," which makes the 1,000th-episode milestone feel like a deliberate fit. CBS schedules Season 28 on Wednesday nights from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET, with a shorter Thursday episode carrying the live eviction (Deadline).
For fans, the 1,000th episode served double duty: a look back at two and a half decades of alliances, speeches, and blindsides, and a live eviction that kept this season's game moving forward.
