Big Brother Hits 5.1 Million Viewers Ahead of 90-Minute Finale

Big Brother will crown its Season 28 winner in front of its biggest audience in years.
The CBS competition averaged 5.1 million multiplatform viewers per episode in live+7, meaning live viewing plus catch-up across broadcast and streaming over seven days, up 8% on last summer, according to figures reported by Variety. The run ends with a live 90-minute finale on 1 October at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
Viewed by total time, the season is even larger. Full episodes and 24-hour live feeds watched across CBS, Paramount+ and Pluto TV totalled 14.8 billion minutes, up 9% from 13.6 billion last summer. CBS said it was also the most-streamed summer for full episodes ever on Paramount+.
The network is also claiming a summer bragging right. CBS said Big Brother averaged 46% more viewers than Love Island USA Season 8, which averaged 3.5 million viewers on Peacock. Sunday nights did much of the work, with the first five Sunday episodes posting week-to-week gains in a row.
It was a milestone season behind the cameras as well. Big Brother passed its 1,000th episode during Season 28. That run has now earned two Guinness World Records titles, for Most Episodes of a Primetime TV Series and Most Episodes of a Competitive Reality TV Series.
Alongside companion series Big Brother: Unlocked, which offers extra house footage and interviews, the franchise produced more than 52 hours of original programming this summer. That is the most original hours in the show’s history.
The audience has been loud online too. Season 28 generated more than 25 million social interactions, the most for any broadcast programme outside sport.
What makes this stand out is how steady the build has been. No single stunt week drove the total. Repeat nights grew, streaming grew, and the feeds kept counting.
For fans, this means one last live vote and eviction to settle it. Rick Devens, Drew Campbell and Taylor Brown are the final three, competing for the $750,000 prize when the finale airs live.
