Madeon Breaks 14-Year Remix Drought With Cinematic Rework of Ninajirachi's 'iPod Touch'
Madeon has released his first official remix in 14 years, a cinematic rework of Ninajirachi's 2025 single "iPod Touch," arriving Friday, August 28 via NLV Records (Billboard; Beatportal).
The French producer announced the track on his official X account, writing: "my first official remix in 14 years is officially out NOW" (x.com/madeon). Ninajirachi confirmed the release on her own X and Facebook pages, posting that the remix was "out everywhere now" (x.com/ninajirachi; Facebook). She replied directly to Madeon's announcement with a simple "life is unreal" and a thank-you (x.com/ninajirachi).
Madeon's last official remix dates to 2012. In the years since, he has focused on his own catalogue, releasing his third studio album, Victory, in late June — his first full-length in seven years (Billboard). A second X post from the producer linked to the remix alongside the caption "Follow VICTORY OUT NOW. Live tour in the fall," confirming autumn live dates are ahead (x.com/madeon).
The remix has a personal thread built into it. Ninajirachi's original "iPod Touch" references downloading FL Studio, the digital audio workstation — the software used to produce electronic music on a computer — and Madeon said he dug into his own early FL Studio project files to source sounds for the rework (Billboard). Both artists teased the collaboration before release. Madeon previewed the remix on Instagram on August 24, four days ahead of the drop (Instagram). Ninajirachi, the Australian electronic producer, has been building her profile through high-profile collaborations. She previously worked with Porter Robinson on the July single "WannaCry" (Billboard).
For Madeon fans, the remix is a notable return to a format he largely stepped away from after his early career, when his remixes for artists like Pendulum and Deadmau5 helped establish his name. That this return comes through a collaboration with a younger artist whose lyrics about music-making software mirror his own origin story gives the track an extra layer of resonance — though both artists have let the music and their social posts do the talking rather than framing it in those terms themselves.
