Alex Cooper's Unwell Launches Summer Games on YouTube With $250,000 Prize

Alex Cooper's media company Unwell is launching Unwell Summer Games, a YouTube competition series, on 7 September 2026 — and 16 contestants will fight head-to-head for a $250,000 cash prize (Deadline).
The series was filmed over four days at a ranch in Canada. Adam W hosts, with commentary from Cameron Gerrard and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu — a name familiar to anyone who watched Love Island UK. The cast leans heavily on social-media personalities: Beau Bailey, Chad Batchelder, Hallie Batchelder, Suede Brooks, Kassy Castillo, Tim Demirjian, Brandon Edelman, Pepe Garcia, Blake Gray, Zarah Kelleher, Carly Lawrence, Becca Moore, Dejon Noel-Williams, Daniela Ortiz, Jourdan Riane and Jimmy Sotos (Deadline).
Behind the camera, the production draws on established unscripted talent. Eric Detwiler, who has executive produced Netflix's Love Is Blind and Perfect Match, serves as an executive producer alongside Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre. Kaplan is Co-CEO of Unwell (Deadline).
Unwell Summer Games is the follow-up to Unwell Winter Games, which launched earlier in 2026. The winter edition's first episode, which premiered in April, recorded 1.4 million views on YouTube, and its highest-rated episode scored 1.8 million views. Those numbers gave Unwell a benchmark — and a reason to go straight back into production for a summer edition (Deadline).
Cooper first unveiled the slate at YouTube's Upfronts presentation in May 2026 — the annual showcase where platforms pitch advertisers on their upcoming programming. The appearance signalled that Unwell, built on the back of Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, was investing in original video beyond audio (Deadline).
What makes the format worth watching is how cleanly it tests the YouTube model against traditional reality TV. A four-day shoot, a single prize pot, and a cast full of creators who already have built-in audiences — that is a leaner machine than the multi-week production cycle of a streaming reality show. Whether the summer edition can outperform winter's 1.8 million-episode peak will say a lot about whether YouTube can sustain competition formats the way it has sustained vlogs and podcasts.
Unwell Summer Games premieres 7 September on YouTube.
