Paris Hilton to Front Early-2000s Documentary for Roku

Paris Hilton will produce and appear in a documentary about the early 2000s for the Roku streaming service, according to Deadline.
The project, titled The It Girls: Inside the 2000s (a working title, meaning it may change before release), is in pre-production and scheduled to air in 2027. It will explore how paparazzi culture, tabloid journalism and reality television turned celebrities into commodities, reshaping the relationship between fame, media and popular culture.
Hilton is executive producing through her company 11:11 Media, alongside EverWonder Studio — the team behind Netflix's Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model — and Hi Mom Productions, which produced Hulu's Million Dollar Nannies. The executive producer roster is large: Hilton is joined by Sarah Ditum, Bruce Gersh, Bruce Robertson, Joanna Studebaker, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain, Missy Walker, Andrea Metz and Michelle Peerali, Deadline reported.
The documentary's roots go back two years, when Hilton optioned Ditum's book Toxic: Women, Fame and the Tabloid 2000s with plans to adapt it into a film. That book covers a sprawling cast of early-2000s figures: Hilton herself, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Kim Kardashian, Chyna and Jennifer Aniston.
The finished documentary will draw on archive footage, never-before-seen conversations and new interviews with major figures from the era. Which figures have agreed to sit down on camera has not been disclosed.
Brian Tannenbaum, head of originals at Roku Media, said in a statement that Roku is thrilled to partner with Hilton on the project. The commission builds on Roku's recent push into pop-culture programming, which includes hiring former Lifetime executive Nicole Vogel to oversee that area and the reality reunion special The Reunion: Laguna Beach.
For Hilton, the documentary adds to a growing producing résumé that has pulled her back toward the very tabloid era that first made her a household name. She lived through the phenomenon the film sets out to examine — and now she is shaping how that story gets told.
For viewers, The It Girls: Inside the 2000s promises a return to a decade when the weekly magazine cover and the unguarded paparazzi shot drove the fame economy, long before social media gave every celebrity their own direct broadcast channel.
