Anker's Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 and 4 Pro: What's New and Which Model to Pick

Anker has announced the Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 and 4 Pro, its latest sleep-focused earbuds built for side-sleepers. The standard model arrives in October at $229.99 / £199.99, with the Pro following in November at $349.99 / £299.99 (The Verge).
Both models build on the audio masking technology introduced on last year's Soundcore A30 sleepbuds, now paired with longer battery life and improved active noise cancellation (ANC). The A30, which Soundcore showcased at CES 2026 as a sleep-specific product, offered up to 9 hours of battery life and a smart charging case to extend usage through the night (Soundcore). It also integrated audio from Calm and was discounted to $159.99 during Soundcore's Prime Day sale in June (Soundcore).
The Sleep Earbuds 4 and 4 Pro reduce the in-ear contact area by 20 percent compared to the A30. Anker says this reduces pressure and improves comfort for side-sleeping, which matters because the entire use case depends on wearing the buds for eight or more hours in a side-lying position. Both models also move to a Bluetooth v6.0 radio, an upgrade from the A30's connectivity stack that should improve connection stability and power efficiency.
Battery life claims divide along two usage modes. When streaming music, podcasts, or audiobooks over Bluetooth, both models deliver 8 hours with ANC enabled and 11 hours with ANC off. Local playback of built-in audio soundscapes extends those figures to 9.5 hours with ANC on and 14.5 hours with ANC off, according to Anker (The Verge).
The Pro model differentiates itself on two fronts: biometric sensing and case functionality. The Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro incorporate an in-ear PPG sensor (photoplethysmography, a technique that uses light to measure blood flow changes) that tracks real-time stress, fatigue, and recovery levels. Anker uses this sensor to monitor sleep state, heart rate, and heart rate variability (the slight variation in time between heartbeats, often used as a recovery and stress indicator). It then plays adaptive soothing audio tracks through a feature called BioSync to help users relax into sleep. The standard Sleep Earbuds 4 do not include the PPG sensor or BioSync.
The Pro's charging case, branded SleepHub, includes an integrated OLED display that lets users control the earbuds without a phone. The display supports swiping through preset soundscapes, checking sleep stats, and setting an alarm. The standard Sleep Earbuds 4 case still requires a phone for all control functions. The $120 price gap between the two lines up cleanly with the feature differences. The Pro's additions, a PPG sensor for continuous biometric monitoring, the BioSync adaptive audio system, and the OLED-equipped SleepHub case, collectively push the product from a passive sleep-masking device into something closer to a wearable sleep intervention platform. The standard model remains a capable audio-masking and ANC tool for users who do not want the sensing layer.
The sleep-earbud category itself is still relatively young. Soundcore's A30 line established the template: small-form-factor buds, audio masking rather than pure noise cancellation, and a charging case that doubles as a control hub. The Sleep Earbuds 4 generation refines that template rather than reinventing it. The 20 percent contact-area reduction is an incremental but meaningful change for a product whose entire use case depends on being wearable for eight or more hours in a side-sleeping position. Bluetooth v6.0 adoption is also worth noting for a device class where connection stability and power efficiency directly affect the sleep experience.
The broader question is whether biometric sleep tracking inside an earbud form factor delivers actionable data that users will actually engage with over time. PPG-based heart rate variability monitoring is well established in wrist-worn wearables like fitness trackers and smartwatches. The in-ear placement offers a different signal path and potentially cleaner readings during sleep, since the ear canal stays relatively stable compared to a wrist that may shift position through the night. But the value proposition depends on BioSync's adaptive audio being more effective at inducing sleep than the static soundscapes available on the standard model, and that is something the specifications alone cannot establish.
For buyers deciding between the two, the calculus is straightforward. If continuous biometric monitoring and phone-free control matter, the Pro justifies its premium. If the goal is simply comfortable, long-lasting audio masking with ANC, the standard model at $229.99 covers the essentials.
