Jeff Goldblum to Host Saturday Night Live UK Season 2 Premiere on Sky
Jeff Goldblum will host the Season 2 premiere of Saturday Night Live UK on Sky on September 12, 2026, with Irish singer-songwriter CMAT as the night's musical guest, according to Deadline.
Goldblum is no stranger to the SNL format. He hosted the U.S. version of Saturday Night Live in 1993 and again in 1998, as reported by Variety. The Oscar nominee also has a recent UK connection — he shot both Wicked films in the country.
CMAT, a Brit Award nominee, brings a rising profile to the musical-guest slot. The Irish artist has built a following for her sharp, emotionally direct songwriting.
Season 2 will run for six weekly episodes, from September 12 through October 24, before taking a break and returning in early 2027. Sky has not yet announced the other guest presenters for the season beyond the premiere.
The full cast from Season 1 returns, including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young. Lorne Michaels, the creator of the original American SNL, continues as executive producer, with James Longman as lead producer. The show is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio's UK production team and Broadway Video.
Season 1, which ran from March to May, featured a guest-host roster that included Tina Fey, Hannah Waddingham, Nicola Coughlan, Jack Whitehall, Jamie Dornan and Ncuti Gatwa. Musical guests ranged from Wet Leg and Wolf Alice to Kasabian. Fey hosted the very first episode.
For fans, the returning cast signals stability — the same ensemble that built the show's identity gets a second run to sharpen the format. Sky's unscripted chief Philip Edgar-Jones, speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, made clear the network sees a longer arc. "We're in this for the long run," he said, leaving open the possibility that Saturday Night Live UK could continue beyond Season 2.
Behind the scenes, UTAS UK Productions is overseen by managing director Helen Kruger Bratt, with Andy Charles Smith as lead producer. Shanna Bayard serves as executive in charge of production, alongside production executive Hannah Peddar.
That is a lot of names for a comedy show. But SNL has always run on people — the writers, the cast, the weekly hosts — and the UK version is built on the same engine.
