A web series shot on the move is heading for the biggest screen its fans have ever booked. The Season 19 finale of Jet Lag: The Game — an indie streaming series in which creators race across countries solving clues and chasing challenges — will screen at select Regal, Picturehouse and Cineworld cinemas across the US and UK on 3 October, according to Variety.

Tickets go on sale 8 September. The season, titled Japanorama, features series regulars Sam Denby, Ben Doyle and Adam Chase alongside guest star Tom Scott. Over 18 prior seasons the show has staged its competitions across Japan, New Zealand, Europe, Australia and North America.

The October screening follows a premiere event Picturehouse Cinemas hosted in London on 1 August, with satellite screenings in Bath, Brighton and Cambridge. The main London screening at Picturehouse Central kicked off at 6:30 pm, with tickets priced at £20 (Picturehouse; Nebula).

The finale event marks a new partnership between Nebula — the indie streaming platform that produces Jet Lag as one of its most popular original series — and Regal Global Entertainment, the cinema chain's parent Cineworld's US brand. Regal senior director of alternative business development Jack Grimes said the audience response to Jet Lag at Picturehouse caught Regal's attention, and that the company is "thrilled" to partner with Nebula on a big-screen finale.

Nebula founder Dave Wiskus described Jet Lag as "an inherently social show" and said it is "unbelievable" that the experience is being spread to so many theatres across so many cities (Variety).

For US audiences, 28 Regal locations are confirmed, spanning cities from Los Angeles and New York to Austin, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta and beyond. On the UK side, ten Picturehouse cinemas are confirmed, including The Ritzy in Brixton, Picturehouse Central in London, The Cameo in Edinburgh and The Little Theatre Cinema in Bath.

The Cineworld-Nebula relationship extends beyond Jet Lag. Regal Global Entertainment recently set a deal to support an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run — meaning the film becomes eligible for Academy Award consideration — for the Nebula short film Power Trip, a 26-minute piece from creator and director Patrick H. Willems. Power Trip will screen at Regal Essex Crossing in New York from 24–30 September, with talent participating in live Q&As after each 7 p.m. ET screening, followed by a wider rollout at Regal locations nationwide (Variety).

For a show that started as a DIY travel-competition format on an indie streamer, a 28-city US cinema day plus a ten-cinema UK run is a considerable jump. Picturehouse marketing director Sam Clements said the chain is "thrilled" to continue its partnership with Nebula and welcome audiences to the Japanorama finale on the big screen.

What started on a phone screen now needs a cinema seat.
