Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets April 2027 Release Date, Two Story Expansions, and a Trilogy Edition
Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of Square Enix's Remake trilogy, will release on April 8, 2027 — a specific date confirmed during the September 2026 PlayStation State of Play broadcast, narrowing the "Spring 2027" window the publisher had announced three months earlier. The game launches simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, according to Square Enix's North American press release.
Series producer Naoki Hamaguchi took the State of Play stage to introduce nearly ten minutes of gameplay. The footage showcased Revelation's open world, side missions set in the regions of Yutai and Gongaga, and the return of Queen's Blood — a card-based side activity carried over from the previous entry. A trailer had previously appeared at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August, where Square Enix revealed reimagined superbosses from the original 1997 Final Fantasy VII.
The big surprise came in the Steam storefront listings that surfaced alongside the broadcast. Two downloadable story expansions — titled "Sephiroth" and "Vincent and the Turks" — appeared on Revelation's Steam page, with release windows between Winter 2027 and April 2028. The listings confirm that Square Enix plans to extend the story well past launch, keeping players in the world of the trilogy's finale into a second year.
For players looking to buy everything at once, Square Enix detailed a sprawling set of editions. The Deluxe and Collector's Editions both include the two DLC story packs. The Premium digital edition is priced at US$99.99 and bundles a Story Expansion Pass plus 24-hour early access before the April 8 release. A Premium Plus tier at US$109.99 adds a digital soundtrack, a digital artbook, and additional in-game items on top of everything in the Premium.
At the top of the physical ladder sits the Collector's Edition at US$349.99, exclusive to the Square Enix Store. It includes a premium statue featuring Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth together.
Square Enix also announced a Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy Edition, bundling all three parts of the trilogy into a single package. No price or release date for that compilation was given during the broadcast.
