Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Need About 200GB and a Download
Clear some storage space. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will probably take up about 200GB, director Naoki Hamaguchi has said.
Hamaguchi spoke to VGC at Tokyo Game Show 2026 in an interview published on September 18. He described the final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, which is set to release on April 8, 2027, on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to GameSpot.
The size shapes how the game will be sold. Hamaguchi acknowledged it will not fit on one, two, or even three discs. All physical versions will require a download, as detailed in the Video Games Chronicle interview.
That means even players who buy a disc will need an internet connection and enough free space to fetch part of the game. It is a familiar trade-off for large releases, where disc capacity cannot keep pace with high-resolution video, audio and art assets.
Hamaguchi also outlined plans for extra stories after launch. The team is officially planning two story DLCs, meaning downloadable additions sold separately, one starring Vincent and the other starring Sephiroth. He has previously said the base game will definitely end the story, with any DLC acting as a spin-off rather than a missing ending.
The interview also touched on how the game was shown at the event. The media demo starts at Chapter 4, a few hours into the game. The public TGS demo is different, a tightly focused version of an earlier chapter built to show how Sid plays in battle.
For fans, this means some planning ahead. Check your console or PC storage before April. A 200GB install can fill a large share of a standard drive.
There is also a new option for collectors. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is getting a US$500 Japan-only collectors edition, announced on September 3. The interview itself also includes a new detail about Tifa, alongside the discussion of size and DLC.
