Gavin Brivik and Andrew Bird Win Emmy for The Pitt Song, Beating Lady Gaga and Trey Parker
Gavin Brivik and Andrew Bird won the 2026 Primetime Emmy for outstanding original music and lyrics for 'Need Someone' from the medical drama The Pitt, the Television Academy announced at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies held September 5 and 6 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The category was one of several music prizes handed out across the two-night event at L.A. Live. Billboard
Their song beat a field that included Lady Gaga, nominated for 'The Dead Dance' from Wednesday, which she co-wrote with Andrew Watt and Henry Walter Russell, who records under the name Cirkut. Trey Parker was also nominated, for 'Christian Woman' from South Park, as was the animated series Spider-Noir. Billboard; USA Today

The Apple TV series Widow's Boy was a double winner in the music categories. David Fleming took outstanding music composition for a series — original dramatic score — for his work on the show, his second Primetime Emmy; he won two years earlier for the documentary Jim Henson Idea Man. Toko Nagata won outstanding music supervision for her work on the same series, her first Primetime Emmy.
Dave Porter also collected two Emmys, both for the Apple TV series Pluribus: outstanding original main title theme music and outstanding sound mixing for a comedy or drama series (one hour), where he was credited as scoring mixer. Both were his first Primetime Emmy wins. Billboard
Sean Callery and Sara Barone won outstanding music composition for a limited or anthology series, movie or special — original dramatic score — for The Beast in Me on Netflix. The win was Callery's fifth Primetime Emmy, following three for 24 and one for Marvel's Jessica Jones. It was Barone's first.
Miguel Gandelman won outstanding music direction for The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny. He is the third person to win that Emmy for a Super Bowl halftime show, following Adam Blackstone, who won four years earlier for the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, and Kendrick Lamar and Tony Russell, who won the prior year for the Super Bowl LIX show.
Tyler Strickland won outstanding music composition for a documentary/nonfiction or reality program for John Candy: I Like Me.
