Netflix Confirms Inbetweeners 3: Original Cast Returns, Production Underway

Netflix has officially confirmed Inbetweeners 3, with production already underway on a reunion film that brings back all four original leads. Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are reprising the roles they first played nearly two decades ago: Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper — the suburban teenagers navigating life at the fictitious Rudge Park Comprehensive (Deadline).
The original Inbetweeners sitcom ran on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010, spawned two Film4-backed movies in 2011 and 2014, and became one of the most successful British comedy franchises of its era. The first film went straight to No. 1 at the UK box office and set a record for the biggest opening weekend for a UK comedy at the time of its release (Deadline).
Series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have returned to write and direct the new film. They also serve as executive producers alongside Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan and Farhana Bhula. The production is led by producer Claire Jones, with Patrick Holland of Banijay and Mark Lesbirel of Fudge Park Productions also producing (Deadline).
Talk of a return started building in October 2025, when Banijay UK CEO Patrick Holland said the group was plotting more adventures for the show (Deadline). By August 2026, Variety had independently confirmed that a reunion movie was in development at Netflix with the original lead cast attached (Variety). Netflix's confirmation on 7 September makes it official.
For fans, the appeal is straightforward: the same four actors, the same creators, and a platform that reaches 190 countries. No release date has been announced. Whether the film lands as a theatrical-style event or a straight-to-streaming drop is a Netflix decision that will shape how audiences find it — and the streamer has not yet said which way it leans.
What is certain is that the machinery is now moving. Cameras are rolling, the cast is in place, and the creative team that built the franchise is steering the reunion. Everything else — plot details, a release window, how closely the characters have aged alongside their actors — remains under wraps.
