Wardogs sells more than 1 million copies in hours in Steam early access

Wardogs has sold more than 1 million copies in hours.
The tactical shooter from Derby-based studio Bulkhead passed the mark after launching into Steam early access, a paid release while development is still under way. It also passed 350,000 concurrent players, the number playing at the same time, in that same opening window, according to Eurogamer.
Each match supports up to 100 players split into three sides fighting for control points. The game blends infantry shooting with vehicle combat, base construction and terrain that can be damaged and reshaped during play.
Wardogs is currently PC-only via Steam, priced at £36.99. The launch was not smooth for everyone. Server congestion built quickly and queues kept some players from joining matches straight away.
Bulkhead plans PlayStation 5 and Xbox versions for release in 2028. The studio is led by chief executive Joe Brammer.
A separate tally put the first 24 hours at 1.25 million copies sold, according to PC Gamer. Bulkhead announced the 1.25 million figure via Steam News on 10 September 2026. In that post, the studio thanked players for their patience, apologised for delays and said it was monitoring servers. The game is listed as initially released on 10 September 2026.
Interest had built before launch. The closed beta, a limited test held ahead of release, had already passed 200,000 concurrent players on Steam.
Bulkhead was named one of the UK's 'Best Places to Work' by GamesIndustry.biz for two years in a row. The studio previously launched The Turing Test, a puzzle game centred on protagonist Ava Turing.
What makes this stand out is the speed of it. New online shooters often struggle to fill matches. Wardogs filled them at once, then had to find extra room.
