Georgia Evans engaged to Hannah Botterman after Saracens title triumph
Wales forward Georgia Evans is engaged to England World Cup winner Hannah Botterman.
The proposal came in Greece, just a few days after Evans lifted the Premiership Women's Rugby title with Saracens in summer 2026. Evans, 29, shared the happy news in an interview published on 13 September BBC Sport.
It was quite a week. Evans helped Saracens win England's top-flight club league, alongside fellow Wales international Donna Rose, while Wales team-mate Carys Cox featured for Trailfinders in the final BBC Sport Wales. Then Botterman, an England prop who packs down in the front row of the scrum, got down on one knee on holiday.
The couple have already bought a new house together this year. They have also started planning a family.
Botterman spoke about that next step on The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby podcast. She said she had been for IVF pre-scans, the early checks carried out before fertility treatment. Evans said they are excited about what comes next, on and off the field.
Wedding planning is under way too. Wales forward Alisha Joyce and Wales centre Meg Webb have been enlisted as bridesmaids.
There is a recent example for them to follow in the Wales camp. Alisha Joyce and her wife, Wales wing Jaz Joyce, welcomed son Ralphie in November. They became the first couple to have a baby while both were part of the Wales set-up.
The rugby has kept moving as well. Botterman has fought back from injury to feature for England again, including a comeback appearance in the victory over Australia in Salford. At the time of Evans' interview, England women were on a 39-Test winning streak.
For fans, this means a rare overlap between fierce rivals. Wales and England meet as opponents in the Six Nations each spring, with no love lost for 80 minutes. Here, two internationals from either side of that divide are building a life together, swapping match notes for house moves and wedding lists.
