Seth Rogen credits luck for Hollywood success at TIFF Market talk
Seth Rogen put his long run in Hollywood down to luck during a keynote conversation at TIFF: The Market on Sunday.
“I was lucky coming up,” Rogen said, speaking in Toronto as part of the industry programme organised alongside the Toronto International Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Luck carried him from teenage stand-up in Canada to writing, acting and producing.
Rogen left Vancouver at around age 16 to pursue comedy work. He later linked up with producer and director Judd Apatow in Los Angeles. His very first stand-up job, he said, was at The Lotus, a lesbian bar in Vancouver.
That early start built on an even earlier partnership. Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been friends since both were 12. The pair have now been writing comedy together for 30 years.
He arrived in Toronto this year with two family projects. Babies was written and directed by his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, and Rogen takes a lead performance in the film, according to TIFF. The couple also produced Tangles, an animated film.
Babies made its world premiere at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on September 12, according to Deadline. Rogen attended the premiere during the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, according to Reuters. A further festival screening on Friday, September 18 was presented with open captions.
What makes this stand out is the pairing. One appearance looked back at how Rogen started. The other looked at where he is now, arriving with films made with Miller Rogen and Goldberg still close by.
