A mother goes door to door to apologise for a crash she did not cause. That is the premise of On Behalf of My Son, the Brazilian drama directed by Gabriel Martins that will open in select cinemas in Brazil on Nov. 5 and arrive on Netflix globally on Nov. 20, according to Variety.

Variety published its review of the film on Sept. 13, 2026, as listed in Variety. The story follows Vicentina, played by Rejane Faria, the mother of bus driver Wesley. After the accident, she seeks out the families of other victims to say sorry on her son's behalf.

She was not behind the wheel. Wesley, the driver, is played by Renato Novaes, who also plays Wesley's twin brother. The film opens with passengers commuting in Belo Horizonte, a large city in southeastern Brazil.

Vicentina does not make the journey alone. Her younger neighbour Joana, played by Maíra Azevedo, becomes part of her search for the bereaved families. The run time is long. It runs to nearly two-and-a-half hours.

The cinema dates give the film a short theatrical window, the period when a film plays only in cinemas before it moves to streaming. The plan starts with the Nov. 5 cinema opening in Brazil. It continues with the Nov. 20 global launch on Netflix.

Netflix had earlier unveiled a first look at the film, as reported by Variety. The streamer presented the project as the new film by Martins. That first look came in late May 2026.

Variety also published a feature on Sept. 12, 2026 in which Martins and Faria discuss the film. The piece frames the production around its Brazilian setting and cast.

For viewers, this means two chances to find it. Catch it in selected Brazilian cinemas from early November, or stream it worldwide from later that month.
